Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of pumpkin spice
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring (optional)

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Stirring Spoon
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Cooling Surface
  • Plastic Wrap or Airtight Container
  • Food Coloring (Optional)

Method

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the flour, salt, cream of tartar, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice. Stir them together to evenly distribute the spices and dry ingredients.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the vegetable oil, water, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. If you want to add food coloring, do so now. Stir the mixture until everything is fully combined.
  3. Cook the Dough: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture, stirring constantly. As the dough begins to heat, it will start to thicken. Keep stirring to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. This will take about 5 to 10 minutes. The dough should form a thick, smooth consistency that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  4. Cool the Dough: Once the dough has thickened and is no longer sticky, remove it from the heat. Let it cool for a few minutes, just enough for you to handle it.
  5. Knead the Dough: Once the dough is cool enough to touch, knead it on a clean surface. This will help it become smoother and more pliable. If the dough feels too dry, add a few drops of water and knead again. If it feels too sticky, add a little more flour.
  6. Store the Dough: Once your Pumpkin Pie Play Dough is the right consistency, store it in a plastic bag or airtight container. It will last for up to two weeks when kept in a cool, dry place.

Notes

When making Pumpkin Pie Play Dough, it's crucial to keep the dough well-stored to maintain its softness. If the dough begins to dry out after a few days, simply add a drop of water at a time and knead it until it returns to the desired texture.
