Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cloves garlic minced (or more for garlic lovers)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or rosemary or both!
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika optional for extra flavor
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for searing
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Tongs
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Serving Plate

Method

  1. Prepare the Chicken – Season the chicken breasts generously with salt, pepper, and paprika. Make sure each piece is well-coated with the seasoning.
  2. Heat the Skillet – Add olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce – In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Once the garlic is fragrant and golden, add fresh thyme or rosemary. Stir to combine.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce – Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the garlic butter sauce over them. Allow the chicken to soak up the sauce for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Garnish and Serve – Once everything is nicely coated, remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.

Notes

When making Garlic Butter Chicken, timing is crucial to avoid burning the garlic. Garlic can quickly turn bitter if cooked too long, so make sure you’re only sautéing it until golden and fragrant. If you’re unsure, it’s better to lower the heat slightly to give yourself more control.
