Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch optional for thickening
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Tongs or a Slotted Spoon
  • Bowl
  • Serving Dish

Method

  1. Prep the Chicken: Start by cutting your chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Set the chicken aside while you prepare the sauce.
  2. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic. If you're adding ginger, mix that in as well. Stir the ingredients together until they are well combined.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken pieces and cook them until golden brown and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently to cook the chicken evenly.
  4. Add the Sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, pour the honey garlic sauce into the pan. Stir the chicken in the sauce to coat each piece thoroughly. Let the sauce simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing it to reduce and thicken. If you want a thicker sauce, you can mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and add it to the pan.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove the pan from the heat. Garnish with freshly chopped green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

For the best results, make sure to cut your chicken into uniform pieces so they cook at the same rate. The honey garlic sauce will naturally thicken as it simmers, but adding cornstarch will speed up the process and give the sauce a velvety texture. Adjust the soy sauce and vinegar to suit your taste if you prefer a sweeter or tangier sauce. Don’t forget to serve these tasty bites with a side of rice or vegetables for a complete meal!
