Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice (or more, if you like it extra spiced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Espresso Machine or Coffee Maker
  • Coffee Mug

Method

  1. Brew the Coffee or Espresso: Start by brewing your coffee or espresso. You’ll need a strong coffee base, so make sure to brew it extra strong if using a drip coffee maker. If you have an espresso machine, pull a shot of espresso.
  2. Heat the Milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Whisk gently as the milk warms up to avoid scalding. You’ll want the milk to be hot but not boiling.
  3. Mix the Pumpkin Spice Syrup: Add the canned pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin spice, and vanilla extract to the milk. Whisk everything together until smooth and fully combined. Continue heating until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  4. Combine the Coffee and Milk Mixture: Pour the brewed coffee or espresso into your mug, then slowly pour the pumpkin milk mixture over it. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Top with Whipped Cream (Optional): If you want to make your PSL extra indulgent, top it with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for that perfect fall touch.

Notes

If you want a stronger pumpkin flavor, you can increase the amount of pumpkin puree or spice mix. Additionally, feel free to adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less sugar. The beauty of making your PSL at home is that you can tailor it to exactly how you like it!
